About Jake Stephens

In Jake's early years he was fortunate enough to work for 6 years for 3 of the best reining horse trainers in the world (between the 3 of them they won 8 NRHA Oklahoma City Open Futurity Championships).
Over the years Jake has had the opportunity to ride many great horses, including Hesa Sonofa Dun winning the 2002 AQHA year end Senior Reining world Championship. He bred, raised, and trained Ice Man Dunnit who went on to be #2 AQHA all time high point reining horse, AQHA 2009 High point reining horse in the Nation.
He also started, trained and showed Rowdy in Hollywood who won the 2005 Idaho 3 year old open futurity, and went on to win the 2009 Mountain Regional Affiliate Finals Rookie Champion.
Jake has spent the past 17 years starting, training and showing reining horses / performance horses as well as hundreds of ranch, rodeo, and mountain trail riding/packing horses.
His program is based around reining fundamentals (steering, stopping, neck reining, leads, shoulder, body and hip movement, as well as overall softness and collection). With such a foundation, Jake's horses are be successful in all horse disciplines.
The ranch is located next to BLM property so Jake can work horses both in the arena and in the mountains year round, depending on what you request.
At the ranch, we have the ability/equipment to start horses following a roping dummy and move on to roping out of the box. Access to live cattle for roping and cutting is also an option.  Because of Jake's reining background, he has also helped many barrel and pole horses.  He can start your horse, finish your horse and pretty much do anything in-between.
We are in Utah County Monthly and can haul your horse if needed. Call or text for pricing.
